We’re closing the book on Halflight. Hilariously, 3 years after it came out. Why did it take so long? Because of me. Some things, like putting together a band, seemed like an insurmountable effort at this stage of life. Turns out I was wrong. Really wrong.
I’m so glad I was wrong. I love playing with my band The Coyotes. Great musicians. Great people. Great friends. Gah!
But this is it for awhile.
Our last Halflight hurrah is a matinee at Chop Suey on Saturday, October 12th. Joseph Pennell is playing with us. We’ll be playing Halflight and giving you a glimpse into the new stuff. These shows have been quite a joyful experience, and I think this one is going to have a particular joyful energy. Like happy, mysterious, surprising, and meaningful kind of joyful. It is written “The end of a matter is better than its beginning”, and I heartily agree. We’ve reached a point of celebration and closure, the end a matter - a milestone I never could have imagined when Ryan & I started recording the few songs I had in mind for an EP. Suddenly, here we are at the end and we’re going to celebrate it hard on Oct 12. Come celebrate with us!
After this, we retreat into the studio to make the next album. I’m really excited about these songs. They feel like the kind of sound I’ve been reaching for for decades. Can’t wait to tell you all about it. That’s for another day.
Until then…
