Just off of I-84 in Pendleton, OR is the Wildhorse Resort & Casino, a McDonald’s, and a gas station. John & I both noticed it as we drove by after a few hours of very pleasant conversation. It had been many years since we had the time to catch up in person and we were making the most of it.
“You want to get a bite to eat?” I asked.
“Nah. Not hungry yet.” He replied. “Should we get gas though?” pointing at the gas gage which was just dipping below 1/4 of a tank.
“Not yet." I said, "We can get gas up the road.”
Then we started climbing.
By the time we were a few miles from the summit of what we soon learned was called Dead Man’s Pass, we both came to the same uncomfortable realization: we did not have enough gas to get to the next station. Not only that, now we didn’t have enough gas to get back to the Wildhorse Resort & Casino gas station. We pulled into the rest stop at the top of Dead Man’s Pass and considered our predicament.
This was Day 1 of our 2022 Northwest Summer House Show Tour. Luckily our friend Brent James Driscoll happened to be 45 minutes behind us and saved the day. We rolled into Boise late, but the show went on and kicked off a very enjoyable and memorable tour.
So this time our friend Hannah is with us to ensure we do not run out of gas. Oh, the glamorous life of a tour manager.
We’re charting a different route this time around. We’ve added Bellingham, Spokane, and Salem. We’re at a different spot in Vancouver, and we’re stoked to be returning to the same homes in Boise and Redmond. If you’re in or near these cities, get your tickets now. These are house shows, so only a limited number of tickets.
There are 10 VIP tickets available at each stop. VIP includes appetizers and drinks with me and John before the show and your choice of merch.
