I have exciting news for you: This December, me and the Coyotes head into the studio with our friend Dan Folgado to start working on my next album. The songs are written. We know the stylistic and creative references. There is a concept that weaves it all together and even ties it to Halflight. We have the vision. We have the plan. We even have some surprises up our sleeve. We are pumped.
There’s one key way that you can help: help me win a grant.
Sonic Guild is a rare organization that does so much for artists. Last year, my friends Byland won a grant from the Seattle chapter and it made a huge difference for them, making printing vinyl and touring in support of the album possible. My hope is that it can do something similar for us. The funding alone will be incredibly helpful.
How do we win a grant? Votes. There are two voting phases: the nomination phase which ends November 8th, and the voting phase which begins November 15th and ends on the 29th. Both phases are measured by the number of votes.
Feel free to copy/paste as needed.
• Go to the nomination form
• Which band would you like to nominate: Joe Day
• Website: joedaymusic.com
• Social media: instagram.com/joeday
• Why do you think this band deserves the Sonic Guild grant? you can say something like “He’s headed into the studio to record a full-length album, has an ambitious vision, and the funding will make such a huge difference.” Or say whatever you want to say!
When we make it into the voting round, I'll follow up with the plan for that.
Also, if you're sitting there thinking "Ok, I'll nominate you, but what if I just want to make a donation to you directly to make the album?" If that's you, just shoot me a reply and we'll go from there. Thanks so much for the support!
Want to hear songs from the new album before we record them? I'll be playing Chop Suey in Seattle solo on Nov 21st. Tickets aren't available yet, but will be soon. Mark your calendars, and I'll email again with a ticket link before the show.
There’s a new Cure record and it’s amazing. Feels like Disintegration, and somehow Robert Smith's voice hasn't aged. Also, Laura Marling released a new album. Such an amazing songwriter. Here are links to both:
That's it for now. Talk soon...
